Bone Marrow Transplant
What Is Leukemia?
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood. Leukemia occurs when cells that are normally in our body multiply abnormally and replace normal cells in the bone marrow and completely cover the bone marrow. For this reason, anemia occurs in patients. The tendency to infections increases as the defense cells decrease in the body.
Bone Marrow Transplant
In patients under 45 years of age, bone marrow transplantation is preferred if no response to recovery treatment can be obtained. Stem cells in the bone marrow are the main cells that enable the formation of cells in our blood. These cells are collected by a device and then stored in the apheresis unit until the day the stem cell transplant will is done, and then transferred to the patient on the day of the transplant.
